Nothing is more frustrating than your Stamped Concrete starting to fade over time. However, you are in luck! It is possible to restore Stamped Concrete that has faded over time. We will go over all of the tips and tricks to having your Stamped Concrete look fresh again.
It is important to remember that if Stamped Concrete hasn't been properly sealed or maintained, the risk of it starting to fade increases; however, there are ways to improve the appearance of your faded Stamped Concrete, some of those being the following.
Staining Stamped Concrete:
If you wanted to apply a stain to recolour your stamped concrete, you will first need to remove
any old sealer. Although restaining and resealing is a lengthy process, it is one of the most long-
term solutions to restoring your Stamped Concrete.
Applying a Tinted Sealer:
Tint can be mixed into the sealer and then simply re applied to your concrete as you would normally apply regular clear sealer. A tinted sealer can be used as a stand-alone product and can help alter or enhance faded Stamped Concrete. It is the most cost effective and fastest way to enhance your stamped concrete.
Applying Antique-it:
Applying antiquing agent can help restore pigments and colours that have since faded. Antique-It is a water soluble antiquing agent to highlight or rejuvenate old or new stamped concrete. Prior to applying the Antique-It, it is imperative to ensure the concrete is free and clear of all sealers, dirt and debris that may be on the surface. Its best to use E-etch & Neutra Clean to ensure its clean and the concrete poors have been opened up. Everything you need comes in a handy little bucket and all you need to do is add the water. You will get significant coverage (approx. 2000 to 3000 square feet) so be sure to only mix up what you need to cover your area. The great thing about this product is you can decide how much or how little of highlights you want, just by simply playing with the water. You can add more or less for a more intense or less intense colour. Dampen the surface, just so its wet and then scrub the solution over the entire area. Allow it to settle into all the low areas and then allow it to dry. It is very important to allow it to dry prior to applying your sealer. Antique-It is a great way to give your faded concrete the update it needs, and is very cost effective!
